Periodically Nerdy: online chemistry courses

Learning made fun.

Chemistry courses that make the whole table make sense. Three weeks, online, for high school students, taught live on Google Meet by a Chemistry 11 teacher. Learn in a small group, one-on-one, or both.

Every atom in you was made in a star. Here's how they behave.

Courses follow the topic your student is working on right now. These are the areas we cover most.

  • 1At

    Atoms & the periodic table

Structure, electron arrangement and periodic trends.

  • 2Bd

    Bonding & naming

Ionic and covalent bonds, Lewis structures and nomenclature.

  • 3Mo

    The mole & stoichiometry

Conversions, limiting reagents and percent yield.

  • 4Rx

    Reactions

Balancing equations, reaction types and energy changes.

  • 5Sl

    Solutions, acids & bases

    Concentration, dilution, pH and titration.

  • 6Gs

    Gas laws

Boyle, Charles, the ideal gas law and when to use each one.

  • 7Or

    Organic chemistry

Functional groups, naming and basic reactions.

  • 8Eq

    Kinetics & equilibrium

Reaction rates, Le Chatelier and equilibrium problems.

How a course works

Four steps, three weeks, one reaction.

  1. Pick a bundle

Group, individual, or both. Each one runs for three weeks.

  2. Choose your times

Sessions are scheduled around classes, work and practice.

  3. Learn live on Google Meet

Work through the exact topics and problems your class is covering.

  4. Track the progress

Students and parents get updates on what's improving and what to practise next.

  5. The product: confidence

Walk into the next test knowing how to solve it.

Hi, I'm the nerd behind it.

I studied for a BA and a BSc, then spent four years teaching in Asia, where I learned to explain hard ideas clearly to all kinds of learners.

Today I teach Chemistry 11, Physics 11 and Advanced Science 10 in Québec. My lessons connect the equations to things students can actually see, and I use enough humour to keep everyone awake through the mole.

Every course is built the same way: clear steps, lots of practice, and real confidence by the end.

Questions

What do I need for an online session?

A computer or tablet with a camera, a microphone and a stable internet connection. Sessions run on Google Meet, which is free and works in the browser.

Which grades do the courses cover?

High school chemistry, including Chemistry 11. If your course is different, mention it when you book and you'll hear back about whether it's a fit.

How big are the groups?

Between two and six students, so everyone still gets time to ask questions.

What happens after three weeks?

You can book another bundle to keep going, or stop there. Nothing renews automatically.

How do I know it's working?

You'll get progress updates during the course, covering what was worked on and what to practise next.
